Verbatim launches external HDD/SSD offerings with biometric protection
Verbatim is expanding its secure storage offering with the launch of new external hard drives and SSDs with encryption and biometric technology to ensure that private data saved on the devices is always fully protected and compliant with GDPR requirements.
Encased in sleek aluminium enclosures, the new Executive Fingerprint Secure Hard Drive in 1TB and 2TB capacities and Executive Fingerprint Secure SSD in 512MB and 1TB use a combination of AES 256-bit hardware encryption and fingerprint recognition technology to seamlessly encrypt all data on the drive in real-time. With 100% of the drive securely encrypted, all the content is safe from unauthorised access if the drives are ever lost or stolen.
The built-in fingerprint recognition system allows access for up to eight authorised users and one administrator. Once set up, users can lock and unlock the device in seconds by just using their registered fingerprint. The SSD or hard drive does not store passwords in the computer or system's volatile memory making it far more secure than software encryption.
After setting up the fingerprints using the software provided, the Verbatim Fingerprint Secure Drives can be used on both PC and Mac operating systems. The drives have a USB 3.2 GEN 1 interface with USB-C connection for super-fast data transfer speeds of up to 5Gbps and the packs includes a USB-C to USB-A cable as well as a USB-C adapter for connection to a range of devices. They can also be connected to TVs once a fingerprint is registered; a feature which is not possible with regular encrypted drives. For added peace of mind, Nero Backup software for Windows is provided to help users back up all files, folders, and drives from laptops or PCs as well as schedule auto back up to a set time and day to ensure that it gets done regularly.
The Executive Fingerprint Secure HDD has a recommended retail price of £79.99 for the 1TB, and £99.99 for the 2TB, while the Executive Fingerprint Secure SSD has a recommended retail price of £87.99 for the 512GB, and £134.99 for the 1TB.
